Saint Columban’s cheerleading program is comprised of students from grades 3-8. In addition to promoting school spirit and supporting St. Columban’s athletic programs, our programs are designed with the objective to prepare highly motivated students for participation in cheerleading programs at the high school level. Participants work hard and have a lot of fun in the process.
The cheerleading season takes place during the football season, practices begin in August and run through November. Cheerleading squads practice 1 day/week with an occassional 2nd practice day at coaches discretion. This year, we will focus on tumbling skills and promoting flexibility and strength.
There are no tryouts to participate in St. Columban’s cheerleading program, just a willingness to learn and work hard. We welcome all skill levels to cheer and promote school spirit and pride!

St. Columban Golf Program Description
ELIGIBILITY: The golf program is available to boys and girls in grades 5-8.
LIMITED: The total golf program cannot exceed 45 participants. Registration will close once we reach this level.
GOALS: The goals for our program are for the students to have fun, learn how to play golf, and enjoy some friendly competition.
SEASON: Golf activities will begin in early August and end mid October. A complete schedule will be available soon.
GOLF ACTIVITIES: All players will receive golf instruction and playing opportunities. Topics for instruction will include techniques for full swings and the short game as well as proper golf etiquette.
PROGRAM FORMAT: Since we do not intend to turn any golfers away, our program will be divided into two teams, Red (recreational team) and Black (competitive team).
Red Team – The Red Team will be for less experienced players, or those interested in making less of a time commitment. This team will be divided into four-six player teams that will compete against each other (like an intramural league). All of the matches will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school begins. Match starting times will typically be between 4:00-5:30 at Little Miami Golf Center’s Par 3 Course.
Black Team – The Black Team will be for players more interested in competition. The team will compete against other middle schools at a variety of local golf courses. Practices, matches, or tournaments will be held two-three days per week and the days will vary. This team will have a maximum of nine players. Since only six may compete in a match, some of the players will have to sit out each match. However, everyone will play in some matches. The Head Coach will have the final say in which players compete in a match or tournament.
TRYOUTS: Tryouts may be necessary to determine the team and will take place in late July or early August at Little Miami Golf Center. If you are planning to tryout for the Black Team, it is recommended that you participate in summer programs and competitions to prepare for the tryouts. Documented results from summer competitions will be also be taken into consideration. Players that do not qualify for the Black Team are automatically on the Red Team. The Head Coach will have the final say in determining which players make the Black Team.
INSTRUCTOR: Golf training and instruction will be provided by Dennis Wells, a PGA Master Professional and the Head Golf Professional at Little Miami Golf Center.
